Senior Estimator

Position Title: Senior Low Voltage Systems Estimator

Position Summary: 

The Senior Low Voltage Systems Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive estimates for low voltage systems projects, including structured cabling, security systems, audiovisual (A/V), access control, video surveillance, nurse call, and other technology systems. This role requires a deep understanding of low voltage systems design, materials, labor pricing, and market trends. The Senior Estimator will collaborate with sales, project management, engineering, and operations teams to support bid strategies and ensure successful project execution. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed estimates. 

  • Perform take-offs and build accurate bills of materials (BOMs) for various low voltage systems. 

  • Work closely with manufacturers, vendors, and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing. 

  • Develop labor estimates using historical data, productivity rates, and scope complexity. 

  • Create and maintain standardized estimate templates and cost databases. 

  • Conduct pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary to assess conditions and scope. 

  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project managers to define scope and ensure alignment on bid strategies. 

  • Identify value engineering opportunities to enhance competitiveness. 

  • Participate in RFP responses and proposal development, including scopes of work and clarifications. 

  • Mentor junior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes. 

  • Stay current on industry pricing, codes, trends, and new technologies. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in low voltage systems estimating, preferably in a senior or lead role. 

  • Strong knowledge of low voltage systems including structured cabling, security, IP Video Surveillance, access control, A/V, nurse call, and other technology systems. 

  • Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, WeSuite, or similar platforms. 

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schematics. 

  • Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Strong communication and organizational skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). 

  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Manufacturer certifications, BICSI certification (e.g., RCDD), or equivalent credentials. 

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Procore. 

  • Experience working with end-users, general contractors, electrical contractors, developers, and design teams. 

  • Prior field experience in low voltage systems installation or project management. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Office-based with occasional travel to job sites, client meetings, or vendor locations. 

  • Standard business hours with flexibility based on project deadlines and workload. 

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • Competitive salary $110,000-$130,000 annually (DOE)
