Field Systems Engineer

Position Summary

The Field Systems Engineer is a technical overlay, supporting the Business Development team in strategic

customer opportunities and delivering successful client solutions. This role provides pre-sales design expertise,

technical consultation, and proposal support, while also assisting post-sale as needed to ensure smooth project

implementation. The Field Systems Engineer serves as a bridge between sales, estimating, engineering, and

operations, ensuring proposed solutions are technically sound, competitive, and aligned with customer

requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Business Development team members to support client engagements, presentations, and

solution development.

• Conduct needs assessments, site surveys, and technical discovery meetings with prospective and existing

clients.

• Develop system designs, scopes of work, BOM’s, and proposal documentation in collaboration with

estimating and engineering.

• Deliver technical sales presentations and product demonstrations to support client decision-making.

• Act as a subject matter expert on low voltage systems, advising pre-sales staff and clients on best-fit

solutions.

• Provide post-sales technical support as needed, including clarifications and design adjustments during

project implementation.

• Collaborate closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure smooth handoffs from sales to

delivery.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of manufacturer offerings, technology trends, and industry best

practices.

• Support RFP responses, proposals, and bid strategies to enhance competitiveness.

• Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and client-facing functions when required.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in sales engineering, design, or technical consulting for low voltage

systems.

• Strong working knowledge of security systems, video surveillance, access control, audiovisual, nurse

call, structured cabling, and related technologies.

• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with business development, engineering, and operations teams.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical schematics.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into client-friendly

solutions.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

• Experience working directly with end-users, consultants, general contractors, and design teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturer and industry certifications a plus.

• Familiarity with CRM platforms (Monday, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).

• Previous field experience in installation, project management, or system commissioning.

Working Conditions

• Hybrid position with regular in-office presence and flexibility to work remotely as approved.

• Travel to client sites, job sites, and vendor locations as needed.

• Standard business hours with flexibility to support client schedules and project needs.
